Another New Sneakpeeq Freebie!! Rhapsody Ring by Bohemian Rhapsody

Standard

Sneakpeeq, my favorite daily deals site, frequently offers high-value freebies to new users.  In the past, they’ve given away real pearl rings and earrings, silk scarves, silver charms, and different bracelets.  (There may have been other items as well, but these are the freebies that I know of for sure.)

Now, the Rhapsody Ring by Bohemian Rhapsody (pictured above, retail $27) is the current freebie.  I’d like to snag one of these rustic bamboo rings for myself, but I already received my freebies for signing up a few months ago.  Boo!

If you like this ring as well, sign up for Sneakpeeq today!  In addition to this pretty freebie, new sign-ups will get a free $10 credit and free shipping on your first purchase.

To get your free ring and discount credits:

  • Click here to visit Sneakpeeq.
  • Click sign in.  (You need a Facebook account to access the site.)

But be prepared…  You will fall in love with this site.  They have insanely cool stuff, and there’s something for everyone.  Not kidding – I visit Sneakpeeq every day.  I’ve earned several dollars-off, percent-off, and free shipping credits (called “badges”) just for “peeqing” at the prices of the items I like.

I’ve already ordered 26 items (seriously!) from Sneakpeeq, all for little to no money out of my pocket…  And I love them all.  I choose to store my freebies and purchases away to give as Christmas presents at the end of the year.  Very excited to give such great gifts that cost me little to nothing.

Fannie May Clearance Blowout & a Coupon for FREE Candy!!

Standard

Update:  There is a coupon for $5 off any puchase – NO minimum – in today’s copy of The News-Dispatch.  That makes a great freebie for all of us who got today’s paper (and 20 more free Trinidads for me)!!!

Fannie May currently has all of their Valentine’s Day merchandise marked down to as much as 90% off.  So tonight, I scored my all-time favorite candy – Trinidads – at only $0.25 each.  I bought 20 of them for a total of $5.00 (normally would have cost $25.00).

(In case you’re the crazy person who counted them in the picture, you may have noticed that there are only 18.  Two of them didn’t make it until I got home.)

This is a HUGE deal, people.  Let me tell you a little story about Fannie May Trinidads…

When I was eight months pregnant, I spent about $12 on a half-pound box of this deliciousness.  I crave these on most of my non-pregnant days, so the urge was pretty intense for me at that particular moment.

Normally, I do not share my little, yellow treats with anyone, but Josh’s dad had never tried them.  So in the name of converting someone else into a new Trinidad fan, I reluctantly handed one over.

Upon doing so, I immediately regretted it.  He chomped twice, and swallowed it practically whole!

  • His reaction:  “It was alright.”
  • My reaction:  My hormonal, pregnant behind literally started bawling right then and there.  How dare he not take tiny bites and savor each one?!

Needless to say, I will never share a Trinidad ever, ever, ever again.

A Lesson in Getting Dolled Up, a FREE ebook, & Chance to Win a $500 Target Shopping Spree!!

Standard

My mom always asks me why I don’t do my hair or wear make-up or dress nicely.  I counter by asking her why she does.  Even if she doesn’t leave the house, she is always dolled up.  She does her hair and make-up just to run to the gas station.  I’ve always wondered, What’s the point of spending time and effort to look pretty if no one will see you?  And if anyone does, why should you feel the need to impress?

I figured she’s just high-maintenance, and maybe that gene skipped over me.  (And I’ve convinced myself that I’m happy about that.)  But I actually really like her justification:  “I do it because looking nice makes me feel good about myself.”

I must admit, I’ve been in kind of a rut lately.  Now that I am not employed outside my home, I wear the same sweats most days.  Not that I tried much harder when I was working, but still…  Showering and putting on the exact same clothes I was wearing before doing so is a little… gross.  I don’t even comb my hair most days.  Just let the tangles air dry.  Ridiculous!

I thought that maybe if I included “getting dressed” on my newly revised time budget, I might do a better job of it.  Wrong.  I’ve done a bit more laundry and a few more dishes, but have yet to put on a decent outfit.

So clearly, something has got to change.  I’m definitely open to finding new ways to feel better about myself and my current season in life.  Maybe looking pretty will be a good start.

Enter Frumps to Pumps by Sarah Mae at Stretching into Blue.  I am really excited to read this ebook, which Sarah calls a “motivotional” (as in motivation + devotional).  It’s a one-month challenge to start dressing more nicely, and she promises to skip the guilt trip.

I’m in.  This is the kind of step-by-step/day-by-day process I like, and the kind of challenge I need.  (It doesn’t hurt that my personal hero, Crystal Paine, posted about how much she liked reading it!)

And if you’d like a FREE copy for yourself, you can get it through tomorrow, 3/16, at midnight.  Just visit this page and subscribe to Stretching into Blue via email or RSS.  Immediately, you’ll receive your link to your free copy of Frumps to Pumps.  You will even have the chance to win a $500 Target shopping spree to help you revamp your wardrobe!  (God knows I could use that!)

If anyone is interested in taking this daily challenge with me, leave me a comment letting me know!  I would love to have an accountability partner on what will surely be an adventure.  (If only you could see my clothes.  I said “adventure” because I’m going to have to get really creative!)

My Favorite Freebies: #3 – Shopkick

Standard

I am quite the shopper so I’m always looking for ways to stretch my dollar.  I’m also a fan of FREEBIES, getting something for nothing, if you will.

This is exactly why Shopkick is one of my most favorite smartphone apps.  It rewards you for doing things you already do.  They give you points, called “kicks,” for visiting places you probably normally go – the grocery store, the mall, your local gas station or convenience store, restaurants, salons, and more.

You can earn kicks in four different ways:

  • Walk in.
    • Often, you just have to walk in to a business in order to collect your points.  How easy is that?!
  • Scan barcodes.
    • Sometimes, they offer extra incentives like extra bonus points/kicks for scanning a couple barcodes on specific products with your phone.  Note:  you do NOT have to buy these products or purchase anything at all.
  • Link your Visa card.
    • If you know you are going to make a purchase, you may want to consider linking your Visa card to your app.  (They guarantee security, and keep no record of your account number!!)  That way, when you buy something already on your shopping list, your purchase will automatically generate additional kicks in your Shopkick account.  Doing this also generates occasional exclusive discounts at the stores you frequent.
  • Invite your friends and family to use Shopkick.
    • When they do, they will receive 50 kicks for using your unique download link, and you will receive 50 kicks for your accepted invitation.

That’s it.  You collect your points, and then redeem them for cool stuff.

Some of the swag you can get with your “kicks”:

  • Princess Cruise Trip
  • Sony Bravia TV
  • XBox 360
  • Coach Hand Bag
  • Ray Ban Aviators
  • Movie Tickets
  • Gas Cards
  • Gift Cards
    • Best Buy
    • Target
    • Macy’s
    • American Eagle
    • Old Navy
    • Sports Authority
    • Arden B
    • Wet Seal
    • Toys R Us
    • iTunes
    • Restaurant.com
  • Facebook Credits
  • You can even donate your kicks to charity!

Here’s what to do to get started:

  • Click HERE to download your FREE app. Using this link will start you off with 50 kicks right away!
  • Each time you leave the house, press the “Nearby” tab.  Check to see if the places you are planning to go are on the list.  If so, check out all the ways you can earn kicks while you’re there.
  • Start earning!
  • Get free stuff!

See?  Something for nothing.  Rewards for walking into stores, scanning items, buying your groceries, ordering your meals, getting your hair cut, and lots of other stuff.

Needless to say, Shopkick is one of the coolest smartphone apps out there.

For example, you could use your $10 credit to get this bracelet from Zad Jewelry for only $5 (retails at $31.50).

Or this adorable owl necklace for only $6.

I’ve ordered from them three times already.  My most recent purchase, the Silver Urban Chains Bracelet by Adia Kibur, is my favorite so far!

Cute, right?!?!

Obviously, the jewelry is what I love most on this site, but again, there is something for everyone.  Furniture, home decor, clothing, electronics, baby items, beauty products, gourmet treats, and much more.  And, of course, you never actually have to use your credit or buy anything.

I don’t mean to sound like one of their sales people.  I get nothing whether you buy anything or not.  I just REALLY love this site, and I think many of you will too.

Happy “peeq”-ing!!

My Favorite Freebies: #2 – Greeting Cards

Standard

If you’re like me, you aren’t a fan of rushing to the store at the last minute to buy a greeting card.  Especially if you’re on a tight budget or short on time.  Cards can cost as much as $5.00 or more – crazy!!  Especially since most people wind up tossing cards they’ve received after a few days or weeks.

So what I do is stock up on FREE, often personalized greeting cards.  I keep a stash of them for multiple occasions:  birthdays, graduations, baby showers, weddings…  I also keep sympathy, get well, friendship, and blank cards on hand.  Then when I need one,  I simply grab one from my stash. Done.

Money saved because I never pay for them.  Time saved because I didn’t have to run to the store.  Peace of mind knowing that the recipients won’t likely be throwing my cards away because they are personalized with my own photographs and messages.

These are the three ways I get all my greeting cards for FREE:

  • Cardstore
    • Create an online account.  Often, they will e-mail you a promo code (to use during checkout) for a free greeting card.  Usually limited to one card per e-mail account/home address, per promotion.  Shipping is free if you have it shipped to you.  You pay the $0.44 postage to have it shipped to your recipient.  They will not require billing information unless you order more than one card.
  • Tiny Prints
    • Create an online account.  Occasionally, they will e-mail you a promo code (to use during checkout) for a free greeting card.  Usually limited to one card per e-mail account/home address, per promotion.  Shipping is free if you have it shipped to you.  You pay the $0.44 postage to have it shipped to your recipient.  They will ask you for billing information, but your card will not be billed unless you have more than one card in your shopping cart.
  • CVS Promotions
    • CVS frequently runs promotions like “Buy 3 American Greetings Greeting Cards, Get $3 ECB.”  (Some CVS stores do this with Hallmark instead.)  I purchase 3 of the $0.99 cards, totaling $2.98, and they give me $3 ECB back!  Voila.  Three free cards.  (This is what I was talking about in my post about 20 Things You Should Never Pay for Again.)

While we’re on this subject, don’t forget about the current Cardstore promotion, which ends tomorrow.  The photo above is of the personalized photo card I made on the first day of the promo (3/8 – only took a couple days to get here).  Very high quality!  Get yours before they run out!
